I hope this not a dumb quest! On my engine block near the anti knock sensor there is a empty bolt hole. It looks like a half inch bolt, and it's not a blind hole . I think it is leaking oil, but can't find what is supposed to there?? Should I just stick a bolt in and be done??
I doubt that is it large enough for a half inch bolt....a half inch bolt is rather large....and I can not recall a hole that large.
And I am sure you are aware that if a 1/2" socket is used on a bolt...that does NOT make it a 1/2'' bolt.
The only hole I can think of is the hole for the support bracket for the front of your starter....and that bolt is a 5/16-18. And I doubt it would leak oil...I would think it would be in a water jacket and leak coolant...but I am not 100% certain about that.
Found the answer! The bolt hole is for a clutch rod ball?? It's next to the oil temp sender, not the anti knock sensor!!ic
That hole shouldn't be leaking oil, or any other fluid.

Not really left over. The 82 Corvette did use the same block as the 81, which was available with a manual trans. Besides Corvettes, the same block used was also used for Chevy trucks, which unlike the 82 Corvette, were available with a manual trans.
