Default Inside Mirror

I need to mount my inside rear view mirror on my 1977 windshield, and cannot find the photos I had taken with measurements on how far down from trim the wedge should be glued to the glass....would someone with 77-82 Vette measure the location of the steel wedge - need dimension down from edge of trim to center of wedge....and I assume its centered left to right but if you could verify that to.

Thanks in advance

Exactly 4 inches and centered with gap between T-tops. BTW, that was both outside from metal trim and inside plastic trim.

My mirror wasn't on when I got the car but the glue residue was still there. Scraped off with razor blade.

I followed the instructions from the mirror repair glue package and used one medium-sized droplet directly on the middle of the pad but that left one corner without glue, so you might want to be sure you use a big drop of glue.

The mirror I got from Corvette America came with what appears to be a thick ribbon type adhesive that you much mix together. I was thinking the these were installed in modern times with a Super Glue adhesive?

Looked at Corvette America and they show the type of glue I used for mine, it has a primer and the adhesive. Primer is smeared on first (onto glass as I recall) then the adhesive (big drop) put onto middle of pad.
Oh... and the stuff I used was Permatex brand, I think, from automotive parts store.

Since your car is also a '77 I was looking at the mirror they sell and it is the same as the one I have.

Hopefully you have the windshield pad too:

I was going to suggest this before, when I put mine on I outlined the pad with a felt tip pen on the outside of windshield so I could see where to put it when inside the car.

The glass installers hang the mirror right away but that is probably why it usually falls off again so I like to tape the metal button on to the windshield after you put the glue on and leave it sit for at least 24 hours before putting the mirror on.
