I would have to say that this engine is the L-82 option...which is the higher horse power optioned engine.

I have a 77 L82 that I think is all original. Single snorkel on mine.

I believe all 77's used the single snorkel air cleaner.

The "Caution Fan" warning label on the shroud, was only used on 81 and 82 Corvettes (and maybe late production 80's, since those labels are dated Feb. 80?). It was never used on 77 Corvettes, so someone has been changing things around, if that is a 77.

My guess is that someone added an 80-81 dual snorkel air cleaner, center duct, right fender duct, and the 2 corresponding flex hoses to that 77. When they got the parts, the Caution Label was already on the center duct, and they left it there?

1978 started with dual snorkel air cleaner, L48 & L82.

Just offhand, it is missing its ignition shielding and the plug wires are routed incorrectly. They should be routed down the back of the engine to the plugs from below. Very common to see them done in this manner, it's so much easier. Unfortunately it also often leads to misfires as inevitably when done in this manner one or more of the wires ends up touching the manifold and burning. Relatively easy thing to fix however.

Additional pictures of the rest of the car would help get more feed back though.

Good luck... GUSTO

Sorry to nitpick, but your A/C compressor output hose has been replaced. All 77s and 78 L-48s had a 45 degree angle off the back, the double 90 is used on the 78 L-82 and 79-81 dual snorkel cars to clear the second snorkel... so not all original, but very close!

78 L-48s were single snorkel, L-82s got the dual snorkel. 79-81 had dual snorkel.

FWIW, the dual snorkel setup didn't net much in seat of the pants feel to me. One of these days, I'll try to do a dyno run and see if there's any difference.
