Does anyone know where I can find the metal shield that covers the light in the glove box of a 78. It attaches with a Phillips screw. Thanks!
I could not find the glove box lamp shield in any of the bigger corvette supply spots..Looking at mine..it could be made up pretty simply with thin sheet metal starting with a rectangular 2.5"x 1.5" piece of flat stock..Bottom side is rounded contoured and upper part is pretty much flat..black painted after drilling the screw hole..A bottom from a CAMEL SNUS tin is the right size for starting stock..Are you wanting a functional lamp shield that fit/looks right OR are you concerned about finding the exact original one..? The shield should be the same for '78,'79'80'81'82..
SO maybe some one on here has a parts car in one of those years that they'd pull the little shield off and send you..Good luck, Jim
I know it is no help...but I have an original ( not for sale) that I use to make new ones that I see need to be installed a lot of times. It is an easy part to make...but if you want an original...hopefully you can find one.

YEP..IF one has a pattern it's a simple critter to make..IF the original poster can't find an original..and simply wants a shield to protect the lamp from bumps when putting items in or taking them out of the glove box...I could pull mine out and fabricate one up for him..My ..old hands don't work as expertly since surgery to remove a terminal brain tumor last february..but I think I could manage the task..Realistically, the black plastic top from a 5# coffee can would make a fine shield..Can be cut-trimmed with sharp scissors..the radiused bottom could be easily bent using a heat gun to warm the plastic and shaped on a 1" dowell..Hole punched for the screw with a hot awl..
The heat generated by the little lamp when glove box is opened occasionall wouldn't burn-melt it either..Sometimes ya have to be creative..assuming the NCRS CORVETTE screw counting/label checking folks are not an issue..Jim
