Closed my door today to find still in my hand... my hand grip/door pull/interior door handle. Whatever one you like most. The black plastic thing you use to close the doors.
So here i am, handle with screws still jutting out from top and bottom in hand.
Screwing them back in doesn't seem to be the answer.. they never actually tighten.
Hi S,
The original screws used were quite odd.
They have a fine machine thread type screw but with a tapered and 'slit' tip that cut it's own threads in the door frame as it was tightened.
Do you still have the original or had it already been replaced? Many have been.
A larger diameter screw as croaker suggested is often the answer.
Regards,
Alan
Judging by your picture VS mine, I'm going to say they have been replaced already. but again with a fine threat.
I'm thinking a deep coarse thread would do the trick a bit better, no?
Thanks for the easy ideas, I didn't want to mess something up by just going bigger if there was a better way.

The actual problem you have is that the holes in the steel panel on the door have opened up a bit from long-term use. You can try larger screws (you may be able to find metric screws that are just a bit larger, rather than going to the next American Standard thread size); or you can remove the inner door panel and "adjust" the holes back to original shape (metal block on inside, hammer on outside to flatten them down).
