Default Engine compartment

Finally got my car back . From all the sanding , under the hood is all white from sanding . Washed the air cleaner etc. , but still there a lot .Tried a air hose hardly any change . Ive never hosed off a engine and don't know if it would do more harm than good . What would you do .

It is ok to wash the compartment. But you will have to just be easy around electrical and carb. Bag the carb, bag over the distributer, cover alternator. You will have to definitely get in there with a microfiber towel and wash the compartment all by hand. That will be the only way to remove 100%. Just take your time and be condensent around water sensitive components.

Go to the quarter car wash. Put a trash bag and tie around the air cleaner or remove it and seal the carb inlet.

Spray the engine with the [low pressure] tire cleaner stuff and let it set a bit. Rinse off with low pressure spray or with "spot free" rinse setting. Put cleaner back on and drive home.

I second the above with the additional caveat of making sure that the motor has been thoroughly warmed up!
