I have a 72 350 4 speed. when I did the frame on restoration I installed a new complete kit type stock exhaust system from front to back. I have the ceramic coated headers which connect to a larger diameter pipe which exits out the magnaflow mufflers. the pipe runs through the transmission cross member. the pipe fits well through the holes but is close. I clamped the pipe to the cross member. was this the correct thing to do? I get quite the vibration under my seat. when I push the clutch in and let off the engine going down the road it pretty much stops. did I do the wrong installation and maybe need new hangers? thanks peter

Does yours have the piece under the transmission with a u bolt holding the exhaust pipe? The black piece just below the shift rods
I also have a 72 with 4 speed . Planeman is correct. It gets clamped to that black bracket. Since that bracket is bolted to the back of the transmission and the transmission is mounted in rubber in the rear , it dampens the vibration.
ok ,I did it the correct way except I may need the bracket for the 2 1/2 inch. ive never run the magnaflow mufflers and they seem to have quite a rumble to them. maybe that's what im picking up the vibration from.
