We are bringing a 1972 LS-5 Vert back to life. Slowly but surely! Took it in to have AC work done, and the technician told me not to expect a "lot" of air to blow out of the vents because of the way the vents a routed. Boy was he right. The air coming out is cold, but just not much of it. I spoke with one other c-3 owner, and he said his a was low also.
Is this typical of a '72 LS-5 Is there any cure for it?
Hi rc,
Are all speeds of the blower motor operating at their designed rpm?
Are the various vacuum operated doors in the air box operating properly (opening or closing fully) to get the air flow where the controller is directing it?
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Al...How do I tell the speed of the blower? you can hear it blowing. Ill have to check on the doors.
This car was literally in boxes! They replaced the expansion valve, POA valve, speed control switch, and put 134 Freon in it.
Is this a typical problem with these cars?
Hi rc,
There is a large section in the Chassis Service Manual covering the air conditioning system. Do you have that to refer to?
There are 4 blower speeds, but also there are separate controls for the damper doors that must be operating properly for the maximum air to be reaching the dash outlets.
Has the dash been far enough apart to be able to verify the operation of the damper doors?

Alan
