Take a look at the front clip, the windshield frame, the bumpers and the position of the rear wheel. I don't think you could hold it together without destroying whats left of it. Poor car!

Per the ad "We can help load."!!
They must have a backhoe on site! Pretty sad. My cousins used to own a junk yard and when I went to see them, I could get lost for hours. Seeing cars I thought I could save and others that I new weren't possible. Some, as does this one, made me wonder just what the story was? This car seems to have been a very desirable car and doesn't appear to have been totaled. Probably just one someone at the yard set aside to save and time just went right on by and the rust devil took over. Pretty sad!!
It does break your heart to see a Corvette that has been abused and abandoned like this. You wonder why the owner didn't sell it 25 years ago if he didn't want the car.

Yeah, I've been wanting a Corvette since I used to watch Route 66 back in the 50's. My wife made room in the budget to let me buy my 1976 C3 this year and I'm as excited as can be. If I'd have gotten this one(in the Ebay ad) years ago, it sure wouldn't look this way today. You always think that Corvettes are cars that will last forever due to the glass bodies but that only half of the story. I never would have thought rust could be this big a deal but from this site I've found out it is.
My cousin picked up a 1969 coupe, 4speed, 427/400(I believe) with chrome Hooker headers/side pipes with black ext/black interior and L88 hood for $2400.00 back in 1972 with 24,000 miles. He came over one day and it was in our driveway and it was filthy! I asked him if I could wash it and I did. I was most likely the first and the last person to wash it while he owned it. He sold it after 6 months due to the cost of insurance for it.

Sounds like you deserved it more than him. That's life.

Well, had he not wanted it and told me or if I'd seen it first, I would have bought it and found a way to pay that insurance....LOL! I'm happy I have the one I now own and it was owned for decades by another cousin so it is also a sentimental car to me! Just happy to have a Vette, thanks to my great wife who made it possible!
It is just a little sad to see the Vette in the OP in that kind of shape but things happen and hopefully someone will benefit from any usable parts.
" I heard for 500$ you can get car acid dipped and then pound back what needs to be straightened. I have had a few good body guys that say they have seen much worse chargers restored. "

This guy is dreaming - he will be sitting on this one for a long time.

I wouldn't doubt that every panel on the car is warped beyond repair from the heat otherwise people would just set their car on fire instead of acid dipping.

Yes, that's what I'm thinking too. He said he had all the rust repairs done before it burned but I don't think you could ever get that straight again and even if you could all the panels would be on the thin side after the rust is removed. That thing wouldn't be worth restoring even if it was free.
The registration tags on the back of the car are from 1974. Looks like it's been sitting since.... Too bad. Up in this neck of the woods metal anything doesn't last long. Price is a bit numb nobody will pay it. The junkies won't take it because of the cost to get rid of the glass.... Thanks...Dave.
