Take a look at the front clip, the windshield frame, the bumpers and the position of the rear wheel. I don't think you could hold it together without destroying whats left of it. Poor car!
Forty Five Hundred??
That`s just BARELY a "parts car"! One thing I noticed was the trailer hitch....ours had the same one when we bought it. They just drilled holes in the bumper, and bolted it on. But at the angle it hangs at, I don`t see how you could ever hook a trailer to it! That was the FIRST thing we removed when we started the rebuild.

makes me want to cry when I see something like that.
What a shame ! The poor car must have had all owners that had no respect for such a beautiful car . When I see something like this I always think about the person that drove it out of the showroom and wonder when someone started to abuse it. If I was the one to buy that car new and keep it all of these years it would still look like brand new.

I have saw many Corvettes that were in fields & behind bars rusting away back in the early 80'S. Remember they only cost 4000.00 new & were worth les than 1000.00 or much less if wrecked or the engine was blown.

It's unfair to say they "only" cost $4000 when that $4000 then would be worth $40,000 today.
Almost looks like the frame already gave way due to rust or real real bent!
One tug bet it would pull away in 2 pcs
Bet you could get a late running C3 for that if you looked hard enough they are out there.
These things are getting old.

That's right , you have to put it in perspective . That was still a lot of money back then . There was times when I was only making $400. a week working in a body shop and had bills to pay so it would take a long time to pay that $4,000. back especially when the high interest was common on car loans so the total payback was much higher.
Next door neighbor about 30 years ago, up north, had a '66 Mustang dark green COBRA PACK car it was his SCCA race car, he even had a Trophy from my old Corvette Club in his basement.....He passed away and so his family cleaned out the house....and that Mustang came out in at least two chunks after setting in the dirt out back under a old oak tree.....for at least 25 years in Maryland......
BUT it had all the Cobra Pack inside and outside....and the serial #s....SO to find a 6 cyl stang and do the transformation.....
I am pretty sure that 68-69 Corvettes were selling for more than five thousand dollars.
I bought a new 69 Camaro and it was only $3100.00. The Corvette was a lot more money. Lou.

Corvette Black Book shows 1968 base prices Coupe $4,663. and Convertible $4,320. and the 1969 was Coupe $4,781. and the convertible was $4,438.

It does break your heart to see a Corvette that has been abused and abandoned like this. You wonder why the owner didn't sell it 25 years ago if he didn't want the car.

Just like all the others that you see . . . they are going to fix it up some day
A person could probably get by with only having to replace the frame, body, interior, engine, transmission and rearend. After that, it would be a very nice Vette.
