I'm looking to the forum for a body mount kit recommendation for a 1981. I suspect they're all about the same, and the prices seem to vary from $100-$140 and poly vs rubber etc.
Who's got the best kit for best price - Wilcox, Paragon, Zip, Corvette Central, etc? Thanks for your thoughts in advance!
Take your pick. ZIP is in Mechanicsville. Might be close enough for you to drive over and purchase over the counter.
Good catch! Zip is about 2 hours away, so it's far enough that paying the shipping is sometimes worth it. Unless I have a large order! I see some kits with what appears to be #8 bolts vs #5. I find comfort in using #8s, but maybe it's a zinc coating?
I myself would install rubber mounts like the facotry did. And if the kit comes with grade 5 bolts...I would use it because going to grade 8 is really not changing 'things'.
Because when was the last time you saw a photo of a Corvette coming apart due to the body bolts failing. And it is not like you are going to need to torque them past what GM did (45 lbs/ft).
Hopefully you find what makes you happy and they work for you.
