Just sent the frame and a few parts Powder Coating Co. may receive it back this Friday or next Monday. It's really a big deal for me as I've never done this before. Picked up a few items for minor degreasing and minor rust removal so I can apply a primer and paint a few things on my own. Still tossing around a few ideas regarding breaks, steering system and suspension tweaks to make them perform better, we'll see. Exciting none the less to have turned the corner. I've learned a great deal on this project. Thanks for asking.
Oh yeah the "why I'm there's" , they can get expensive

Hi c,
I'm still enjoying your photos as you post them!
I find it very interesting to see the chassis and running gear with the body off... but even more interesting with it all disassembled.
It would be so good to have the knowledge we gain while we're doing it right from the beginning.
Nice photos of the 'crossmember tool' in place!
Regards,
Alan

Hi c,
Yes!
That's a big difference!!!
I can understand why you're pleased!
I had my frame powder coated about 20 years ago and it still seems like a good decision.
I felt the semi-gloss was a bit to glossy for the look I wanted so I sanded the whole frame to open the powder coat surface and sprayed Krylon#1613 on it. I was concerned about adhesion problems, but it still seems fine even after all these years.
Regards,
Alan
PS, I also wanted to lesson some of the 'orange peel' powder coating can display.... so sanding helped that too.
PSS, What was the cost? People often ask about that? And did they strip the frame or did you?
Yes!

As I'm going through parts and having never even inspected the front calipers I was quite surprised to see what I saw today.
What could have possibly gone wrong on my 35 mile drive home a year ago after purchasing this car ? Answers I don't suspect are good now are they ?
I shake my head some times.

I had the frame and 13 other parts media blasted and finished for $1200.00
Seemed to be the going rate in Los Angeles. I have to say I'm very happy with the work by the fella. Universal Powder Coating/SunValley,Ca.
Heck, Acid Dipping was $ 750 and up.
This isn't a cheap hobby for sure, but it sure is fun.

Discovered a difference in steering arms from when they were mfg. & installed.
Seems the "original" arm had a single hole for either Power Steering or Manual.
Saw these discussed on NCRS after typing in my current part(s) GM #394877 and discovering the original GM #465071 & 465072
Here is a picture(s).
Steering Arms Old issued (Tagged) and newer issued. The untagged units are from my 1970 Coupe

No doubt. I find it interesting how GM seemed to change things sometimes with out warning. The numbers can be like a wild goose chase. Somehow I wind up going down the rabbit hole on these things.

Just came across the article regarding older cars and safety. Hope it helps others in their project planning.https://www.aarp.org/auto/trends-lif...OL-HIS-EOA1-FD

Fabulous job on the frame!!
Isn't it worth every penny?
I can't count the number of nights I go down to my garage and marvel at how good a powdercoated frame looks and how much time and energy is saved by going that route.
Yours couldn't look better
