Hi Ray,
The original style welded aluminized exhaust systems from Corvette Central are quite nice.
They are easy to install, fit well, and are reasonably priced.
There are even free shipping specials on them on occasion.
Regards,
Alan

These are as close to original as you can get with a one piece pipe from the hangar back to the muffler. They are very well made, accurate and a breeze to install. I have their full exhaust on both my C3's. The system on my wife's 78 is over 10 years old and still looks new.
Try putting in the crosspipe first. My flowmaster delta 50's were a little louder at part and full throttle than i wanted, i put on a X pipe, and it was much quieter but still kept the nice rumble at idle
Hi Ray,
I'd say the CC system sound is quite like a Corvette from that era sounded.
More sound then an ordinary car back then, and more sound than ordinary cars have now.
They are not loud though, there's no hint of 'boy racer' in them.

Alan

Thanks for all the advise.
I do most of the work myself on my present 73 and when I had a 75. On the 75 I put the side exhaust on myself and when I had to go through inspection I would take it off. I my 20's I liked the sound, now not so much (mostly the wife)
Because the whole exhaust is welded with a custom piece going to the flowmaster. I thought it might be easier to just replace the whole exhaust. again by myself.
Hi Ray,
I found the welded system to be really quite straight forward to install even with the car just raised as just as far as jack-stands will allow.

Alan
When new, the mid-70's Corvettes were very quiet. So, if you want some rumble, it won't sound 'original'. I think that you should attempt installing the 'H' connection in your existing pipes first, also.
BTW, no one sells pipes made the same as what the factory did originally. So, you might just have to settle for what NCRS claims to be the most original looking on the market.

He said in his original post that his current system has an h pipe.

Good point on original equipment. My wife loves the car and cruising, and the radio. Changing the exhaust isn't a done deal - however we both just want it a little less volume not quiet.
