...in an attempt to get more documentation for my car, would it be worth to get a duplicate recreated?...
Only if you want a duplicate. That would be a personal choice for you. If you have other documentation as to how the car was built (tank sticker, window sticker, Corvette order, etc.) the Protect-O-Plate is repetitive.
Hi lo,
In the linked thread the point is made about how the original 'protect-o- plate' (and other documentation) will "greatly add to the value of the car". ???
I'm assuming you'd like to have a 'protect-o-plate' made for "amusement purposes only"!?
Regards,
Alan
Thanks, no other documentation except for matching numbers on the tranny and block. The car was rear ended at sometime in the past and the original tank replaced. Just trying to work up some history on the car.
Long story short, "gerrymo" tried to sell me the plate and later changed his mind and claimed to have destroyed it.
My question, in an attempt to get more documentation for my car, would it be worth to get a duplicate recreated?
A duplicate might be interesting from a display standpoint, but if your question is suggesting added value, I don't believe it would add value to the car.
It would be a 'show-off' type novelty. I have the original P-o-P for my '65 Pontiac Grand Prix, and I lay it out with other documentation on the floor of my trunk when showing the car. To date, no one has actually commented on that original Protect-O-Plate.....

Mines been the opposite. I bought an original '69 Corvette Protect O Plate on the card, etc off eBay and I show it along with documentation on my car just for display purposes and no one has asked if its original to the car.

What you could also do is print out the thread with Gerrymo and the p-o-p. Display that. That thread is a form of documentation itself. And its even more interesting in my opinion.
