Default 71 front bumper bolts

while checking the bumper gap to body I notice that the outer bolts on the bumper were missing??? I have a early 1971 built in september 1970.
Checked my AIM UPC 14 sheet A3 it shows bolt item 13, lock washer item12 and shim item 15 change 2. Also, shown was item 14 which doesn't look like my bracket(my brkt is approx. 1 1/2 inches wide and I do not see a reinforcement ext. as called out on drawing. Anyway what I want to know is what size is the bolt and are the shims fabric or metal and what thickness??
thanks Mike

Hi Mike,
There are actually 2 brackets used for the side bolt on the front bumper.
One connects to the back of the bumper and one links the large side bumper bracket to the small bracket I just described.
Here you see the end of the bumper bracket, the small bracket reaching forward to the small bracket mounted on the bumper and the bolt running through the bracket to the bumper corner. This is the left side looking up from below.
The bolt is similar to the other bolts…7/16"x14x1-1/4". Not all cars used shims and I'm not sure what was used when something was needed.
Be careful working with these corner brackets and bolts…. it's very easy to crack the fiberglass.
Regards,
Alan

Alan
thanks for the heads-up. Your pic shows the twisted bracket that I'm missing. I'm sure one of the vendors sell. Your correct! Some paint has rubbed off from the bumper vibrating.
thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,
One of the companies (maybe the only) that's reproducing those brackets is CSC B4561L and B4561R.

Hey Alan,
The bolt that attaches the Corner reinforcement to the bumper extension and then thru the body and to the bumper itself is 7/16 ,14, 1 1/4. What is the size of the bolt that attaches it to the nose piece?

Thank you,

Kyle

Not sure exactly what bolt you mean, is it the one that holds that bracket to the frame extension?

9419075 is a 7/16-14 X 1 1/4 GR5 bolt
