Hey who has done one I'm thinking of going that route and was gonna ask someone what brands they used for their set up cause I heard there are some fitment issues on some brands.
I am the first one to support modding but the xfire was one year only coolness in the c3,
Unless yours is really in poor shape or you desire well over 300 hp if it were me i would try to keep it, just a thought, but if your really dont like it grab that carb...you will have to swap out the intake also....and the dizzy etc
If the engine runs fine and the ECU throws no trouble codes, I'd advise that you just rebuild the throttle bodies, if they need it.
If you are looking for more power, there are larger throttle bodies and mating manifolds that you can swap out...and still have the advantages of ECU engine control and better mileage and emissions control.
Converting to carbs is going backwards, IMO. But, it's your car...
It's this dreaded fuel pump problem I'm having. When I got the car together there was no power to the pump then all of a sudden it works. Same thing now after being parked for winter it won't turn the pump on. But I am getting a trickle of gas to the drivers throttle body. Fuses are good and there is power to the throttles.
check fuel pressure to the tbi. if low then check fuel filter .still low replace fuel pump.most go with a fuel pump for a 1985 to 1987 vette fuel pump.
Yes I have a new relay new pump and new sending unit. I'll check for power tomorrow. If it's the pump I'll probably go with the 85' for more pressure. All I got to do for that is put it in the sender and go right?
when you replace the pump, you have to check the tbs for leaks.the added preassure will find weak gaskets.most have no problem.replace fuel filter.still a good idea to check fuel pressure between tbs.if that is all good but does not run right ,your injectors are old and dirty, check spray pattern
I did my 82' Crossfire Z-28. I used a Holley 600 single feed vacuum secondary carb,Edelbrock Performer intake, and a pre-1980 HEI distributor and ran a switch to lockup the convertor at speed.
You will need a mechanical pump on the engine....and a pipe in the sending unit to bypass the pump.
Ran awesome after jetting......my friend bought it 9 years ago and still drives it occasionally.
