Default Back up lights

Okay so I have gone and done it finally adding a new tail section. I was originally going with the original style 68-79 taillights but found I needed special cups to mount the lens. so I cheaped out and went the LED route. I am on the fence about adding the CORVETTE letters but I have them just in case. The license plate frame is on its way sometime and I have the 73 license plate light. Not quite sure if this is going to be a bond on or a bolt on we will see how everything lines up.
Which now gets me to my main question.... I am unsure what to do with the back up lights. Part of me wants to do the 68 stlye with the LED bulbs The other part says just use a set of the Eagle Eyes from E-bay. I have seen some of the license plate LED style but not sure that is my cup of tea.

ok I am off to look at lace table cloths for my new paint job I know some wont like it but I will. When was the last time you guys say a lace job done on a Vette?

I used LEDs....This your cup of tea?

For the 1157 dual filament bulbs- you can just remove the single wire one and get a couple of these-and either rivot or screw them to the housing-

On my 71 I wanted 4 stop / tail / turn lights, so I plan to use the LED license plate frame as backup lights.
And yes, you`re right....I had to swap out the inner buckets to get the dual pin sockets for the conversion.

Can`t wait to see your finished paint job... sounds cool!

Will be great to see your finished paint. To me that rear panel fairly screams for "C O R V E T T E" in individual letters. If you add them be certain to make and test a hole template before drilling! Nothing looks worse than crooked/misaligned/poorly spaced letters! The AIM has the exact measurements for the holes.

I admit it. My name is Jim and I used lace for a stencil on my 1967 vert, back in 1972. And trust me, it takes a real man to go into a fabric store looking for lace. I had just paid $2450.00 for the car, just got out of college and wanted to try my hand at painting. The car was in perfect shape, but was only worth $2450. When I met my future wife 4 years later, she just couldn't keep from laughing. In 1978 she thought it was a good idea to get the whole car painted, and the lace was gone forever. But every once and awhile she busts my chops about it. It was so 70's. Sold the car in 1985 for almost $20k, and I thought the guy was crazy. Little did I know how much more it was going to go up. Imagine what I could have gotten with the lace on it....

Richard very cool set up you have. I like it but looking for something a bit simpler.
Brent's car looks real nice but the style lettering is not for me, but shows some great workmanship.
I am looking at something like this sort of a 67 Camaro style. I am using LED bulbs. If I really don't like them I have room to use the 68 style back up lights Found some cool lace patterns but not sure on which one

Back in the 70's I used to get a lot of requests for lace painting on different types of cars in the body shop but most requests were by the hippies with their VW bugs and vans but I never entered a fabric store to buy it . I always told them if they wanted lace they were getting the material . I imagine it was expensive just for the material and it could only be used once. Don't be surprised if it comes back . Fads usually come back around .

I had black lace stripes on my 67 Firebird from the hood scoops to the front bumper. I did them also with doilies cut and taped. I used an air brush.

That was in .. 68 ish

So the back up lights are now in. I tried to keep them in the 68 location.

That looks super good to me, what i would like with mine, seems you and i are sempatico with tastes a bit,
While they look cool on some builds the backlit script in a modern font, not my cup o tea,
But i also dont really like the raised chrome letters,
I would like to see "corvette" but in the c3 stingray font.
