'79 Alarm System Diode Location
Does anyone know where to look for that diode in the harness? I've seen it before but don't recall where.
Am trying to enhance my factory alarm but find the blue "trigger" wire is constantly grounded thus sets off the alarm anytime it is armed. I've verified that all of the alarm switches work and am now on the hunt for a potentially defective diode.

YES...it is in the wiring harness that is to the left of your radio that routes back to your console power window switch area. The meal bracket that is riveted to your floor....where your plastic shifter console gets screwed to at the front...it is a bit more towards the firewall from that point.....if what I wrote makes sense.
Memory serves me correctly...it will be in the light blue wire....and have what looks like shiny black duct tape wrapped over it.

Your description of the location is perfect! Yes, it will be a light blue wire.
I've put a lot of effort and a decent number of $$ on the factory alarm system but it has never worked properly during my ownership. The fact that I found alarm system wires literally ripped out suggested numerous problems
