Calling Alan 71 please (1)
I believe this picture (not my car) is correct. Appears to be a satin black (?) in the front area of the door. And I am guessing the remainder of the jamb is body color. Does the black go all the way down to the bottom of the front edge?
Is this accurate?
And if new hinge bolts (and/or shims) are used would they also be painted body color or left natural?
Many Thanks,
Mark

My 68 is original paint so I can tell you in 68 the hinges are a
dull satin black and the front of the doors are black IIR where the access panel is.
Hope this helps.
In your picture my educated guess would be the hinges were sprayed over.

On 78-82's, painted in lighter colors such as white, silver, beige etc, it's possible that there was blackout applied to the body, in the area of the hinges and courtesy light switches. It doesn't appear that this blackout was applied to all light color cars. It may just have been used on ones where the fit of the door and kick panels, allowed the exterior color to be seen inside the car. I've never seen it applied to any cars earlier than 1980, but I've been told that it's possible that it was done in 78 and 79?
Below is an 81, that has both the door and body blackout applied.
The black paint applied to the front of the door was very crudely done.
It varies from car to car as to just how far down the black extended… but typically at least about half way.
The doors were on the car when it was painted so the hinges and any shims used were painted. I guess a shim might have been added later, but that wouldn't be typical.

Alan
Here you can see the part of the hinge that was in the door wasn't painted but the part on the hinge pillar was.
Also note that some black sealer was added after the car was painted.
