Hi yvh,
I think it does matter.
The position of the frame extensions on the front of the frame rails is adjustable.
THAT adjustment determines how the core support sits on the front crossmember AND how the front bumper braces at both the ends, and the center brace are aligned.
Also, the 2 small brackets on the front crossmember should be off at this time because they should only be bolted into position after the front bumper and the bumper guards are satisfactorily aligned with the body.
You can't do any of that until the body os on the chassis. You'll still have the access you'll need to put the parts in place and adjust them.
Regards,
Alan

so should the front extensions be on before the body?
No , don't put the three pieces on yet. I just helped put a 72 body back on without the big crossmember , plenty of room to do it after the final alignment of body to frame
also depends on how it was shimmed before the body removal. if all is the same you should have the same bolt points and same amount of shims. a little off one way or the other will effect (affect?) your shims during your body adjustment. the shimming and body adjustment is your nightmare, not that frame plate. almost made me want to sell it all and buy a camaro...

i bought it with the body off... how will I know how to shim it

trial and error... good luck.. just think it through... try it one way.. then stop and think about it again for a day or two, then jump back in it..
i think a bunch if it is in the AIM.
