Default Vette born date from Vin number

Does anyone know how to determine what month your Corvette was built from your vin number?

You can get close. The Corvette Black book shows how many Corvettes were produced in each month. The trim tag on the drivers side gives you interior code, paint color code, and assembly date which is more specific on the born date.

I agree. The time built date on the trim tag is a closer approximation. That code confirms your Corvette passed the station on the assembly line where the trim tag was attached on that day.

The "B25" in the upper right hand corner indicates Sept. 25, 1967 (for 1968 production).

Ok i thought so as i googled it.. So my 68 was an early built car for 68 right? Built in 67. And for my vin number is 00712 which i think is the 712 car built for the 68 .

As long as the VIN is below 00905, then yes.

Correct. The 712th 1968 Corvette assembled. B25 confirms your car passed station on the assembly line where the trim tag was attached on September 25th. The perpetual calendar says 9/25/67 was a Monday.

Hi mr68,
The car 'typically' left the assembly line one or two days 'after' the date stamped on the Trim Tag.
The trim tag was put in place relatively early in the assembly period. The body hadn't met the chassis yet.
Weekends and Holidays could affect how many days would pass before the car was finished.
Regards,
Alan

The C3 Birthday Calculator shows 68 VIN 00712 as being built on September 23, 1967. These calculators are just approximations, based on known information (like last car built each month), and not exact dates.

With a body build date of September 25th, it's likely that your car was completed on Sept. 26 or 27.

Hey, that's pretty cool, looks like mine was built on October 30, 1974, an early production 1975 model, probably among the first.

First month of 75 production at the least. Your consecutive unit number will tell you where the car stood in October production. There were 2385 October cars.

The 75 model year began later than usual because the 74 production run was lengthened due to a two month strike.

Always good folks here on the forum to help. Have fun with your new 68 and stay active here on the forum. Pictures, when you can, are always welcomed and appreciated.

Enjoy.

So, if my car is 2059 out of 2385 cars, and it was built on Oct 30, then that would mean that 326 cars would have been built in a single day, Halloween. I'm not sure if that's accurate.

Divide 2400 into 30 and you get 80 cars a day.
