I like the full bumper C3's and I am on a budget of $18K. I live in CT and there are several choices, and I just found a 1972 that was completely restored ground up 10 years ago. The car is in great shape. The only two things that do not pan out are; the car is a LT1 vin number and the LT1 engine is not with the car, also the paint code is Ontario Orange and the car was painted Mille Miglia Red. The owner has been very up front about that. I have him down to $17K.

You cannot restore one for that much money, not even close.
As long as the frame and birdcage are in it good shape it is a bargain
Excellent looking vehicle. As long as it sounds good, and the above information is correct that appears to be a good price for a nice running car in overall very good condition. BTW welcome to the Forum. Looing forward to you posting pics as you enjoy your new ride!
From: PHOENIX, AZ Yes, it's true. You are a good woman. Then again, you may be the Antichrist.
Ground up resto, still in nice shape for $17k? What's the guy's phone number?
Really, the only question is do YOU care that it's not the original engine and paint color? If not, it's a good deal. If those things bother you, keep looking.
I can't expand the mini photos to see anything, but if it was a good restoration 10 years ago it's a no brainer! If you're not going to buy this please pass along information to me because I'll take it!
Have you read the "10 things to know" sticky at the beginning of this section? It will show you what to look for as to where the rust hides
You can buy and install the internals to make the motor and LT1 so you would feel good about it being what you will be saying it is, most just go with making a 383. Other than that if its solid, then its a good corvette for 17k ( I paid 19K and mine had hidden Bubba problems). Someone will come along and say 12k -15k but thats not reality up here for solid cars
Theres a few guys here that can tell you what to look for it being an original LT1. I believe the rear u joints didnt use straps, and it had only a supply fuel line, no return. theres some threads about that subject.
good luck

Depending on the casting date, CKB could be any of these.
CKB 1972 350 165hp 2 tur 400 trans.
CKB 1973 350 175hp 4 m/t, 4 spd
CKB 1974 350 185hp 4 m/t, 3 & 4 spd
"Ground up" is often used to make a car sound like it has been frame off restored. Connecticut is not known for rust free cars. I've done quite a bit of vette shopping and most cars in this neck of the woods have serious rust issues. Sounds too good to be true.
Now that I'm thinking about it I automatically suspicious of anyone who uses the "ground up" description. Could mean almost anything if you think about it.
Hi Sk,
Welcome!
First posts!
And considering a new, old Corvette! Great!
The car looks nice in the single photo that can be seen.
You REALLY need to have someone who is very familiar with 70-72 Corvettes take a close look at it to help you understand what it is and if you should spend your money on it.
It is well documented on this forum that cars with serious rust can LOOK nice in the pictures.
That's the first concern that needs to be settled with this or any 68-72 Corvette.
Do you know of a knowledgeable person who help you?
I'd be interested to know what 'toy' knows about the car.
Regards,
Alan
