The Ident number is unique to each car so someone taking it to try to create a fake would not work for anything.

Are you sure about that statement "in 1972 they went to the purple type"? I've seen several of those from 71 that I believe to be genuine. Haven't looked for anything before that.
I miss him too, and am really worried that something happened to him. wish I knew his last name to try and find out where he is.
