Default Heartland Chapter NCRS event

Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone on here planned to attend the event at the Iowa Speedway, on May 4-6. This will be my very first one, so I'm not sure what to expect. I am not currently a member of the NCRS yet, but I am hoping to join at the event. I am interested in learning about, becoming a judge. If anyone has any advice, or can tell me what to expect, I really appreciate it. I am very excited to become a part of this.

I am undecided at this time. Last week attended the Kansas City NCRS chapter judging event in Kearney, Missouri. It was great and I learned a tremendous amount of minutia knowledge. The folks were very friendly and helpful. Be warned that it can be costly, finding out some of your parts are not correct is eye and pocket book opening. I may never have a car judged but appreciate the trouble folks have gone to in maintaining and restoring their Corvettes. Like it that it is not a completion between car owners but an owners individual passion. Have fun.

Hi 6s,
The event you're considering attending is a Regional Meet so you can expect to see quite a nice group of cars. Regional Meets are typically 2 days.

Since you're interested in judging you might consider going to the NCRS site and look at the Judging Information there. You'll see that there is an opportunity for folks interested in learning about judging to be an 'Observer Judge' at all meets.

Being an O.J. would help you see what the Flight Judging process is, and also allow you to follow along with a group of judges. You can watch what they're doing and hear their conversations about what they're seeing.

When you arrive you might want to find the meet Judging Chairman or one of the Team Leaders for the various groups of cars being judged. If you introduce yourself and express your interest in being an O.J. they will be glad to get connected with some judges that will be looking at cars you may be particularly interested in.

I'm pleased to read of your interest and hopefully you'll like what you see at the meet!
Regards,
Alan

Here's a photo from a Regional Meet in Wildwood New Jersey from a few years ago.
It was an especially large group of very nice cars and a good location to judge them!

That's the beach and the Atlantic out there!

Default Thanks

Thanks for the responses guys, I have been on the NCRS website, and read a lot of it so far, just didn't really know what the process would be. Kind of nervous about attending, because I don't know many of the corvette guys from my area. I am hoping by joining the corvette club of Iowa, and the local NCRS chapter, I can get to know people, and become more involved in my passion of corvettes.

Hi 6s,
You REALLY don't need to be nervous about attending, or about being an Observer Judge!!!!

Alan
