I have owned the 69 for a year. Purchased from a nice forum member. It took seven months to get the motor up and going. Initially I discovered the door key did not fit the tire lock and addressed bigger fish. This weekend I noticed the spare key chain that had an odd door key. Tried it and discovered it unlocked a treasure chest spare tire tub. I found what may be the original spare tire and wheel. It is a Goodyear Nylon Speedway Wide Tread, F70 x 15, and according to the tire date code manufactured in December, 1968. The steel wheel was manufactured March 22nd, 1969. The car drove off the assembly line June 17, 1969. A forty-nine year old tire is not spare worthy but it definitely was a pleasant surprise to find.
Key is also for the compartments behind the seats. I also found one of those tires in mine. Gave it to a local corvette shop. Maybe someone needs it for an NCRS car. T
[QUOTE=sshort67;1594587615]I have owned the 69 for a year. /QUOTE] I will take the tire lock and key plus my door/glove box key to a locksmith and see if they can rekey the lock. Anybody had that done?
For clarity; the round head key works in the storage compartment lock behind the seats and in the spare tire lock. The key with the rectangular head works in the ignition and the door locks. I bought a 71 a few years ago that had 5 different keys (including one for a locking gas cap.). What a puzzle!

My ign key worked in passenger door and ign. The round key worked 1 compartment and spare tire, took other locks to locksmith and he fixed me right up. Now 2 keys and everything works. T
