It's alive !
I don't know if anyone else can get excited about this but I finally reached the point where I got the spark plugs in, the wires on , poured a little gas in the carb and hit the key ! I don't think it had time to go two revolutions and it was running as smooth as glass ! When I bought this project I was told that the motor was locked up and the car had been sitting for the last 5 years and I fully expected to remove and replace the motor with one I have sitting on an engine stand , but , I wanted to know for sure that it was locked up before removing the original motor ! Darn , guess I'll have to find another project for that motor! As it turns out the only thing wrong was the starter motor wasn't spinning , but the solenoid was kicking out and that's what made them think it was locked up ! Next thing will be to drop the gas tank and clean it or replace it if I have to. From there it will be getting the body ready to paint while trying to find missing pieces and maybe drive it for the first time ! Guess I better slow down a little so I don't get too far ahead of myself Guess that's all for now !

I was doing my Tigger impersonation for sure!! It's taken me from Jan. till last nite to get to that point, but, it was worth the effort to save that motor! Now I can go through and check all the other systems and if I choose to modify later we can still keep all the original equipment!

Here's a pic of my Harley!
For all that's interested here's a pic of my last frame off resto ! It's a 1972 GMC that belongs to Willie Nelson!

Earlier today I filled the tube at the top of the carb with gas and then hit the accelerator and it started right up ! Came back a while later and just hit the accelerator again and it started rite up again so now I believe that the carb is functioning correctly! Next up is the fuel pump and checking to see what is happening in the gas tank ! I've connected a fuel line to the pump and added a couple of gallons of gas to the tank with the fuel line going to a gas can ! Once I take the car off the jack stands then we will test the pump and see what is happening inside the tank ! BTW nice looking set of wheels you got there!

From being able to put gas in the carb and start it to gas being fed from the gas tank and turn key ! Engine is very strong no misses , hits or errors! Tried to post the video but can't figure out how ! New update soon !😎

Actually I'm further along than that ! I'm now running gas from the tank and it's crystal clear ( I've gat a glass tube filter between the pump and the carb ! She is turn key and running! Found out there was a clamp pulled off the fuel line to the pump so I fixed that and filled the tranny with fluid so I thought I would check that and found out the brakes aren't strong enough to stop the car in idle! Oooops Almost went into the parts car before I got it in neutral! Ally good though and I filled the power steering reservoir up! Next up will be to bleed the brakes so I can get to the part I do best! That being putting the magic to the paint and body part of this job ! More updates soon !😎

Check your calipers very closely for leaks. It's very common on our cars for them to develop leaks when they sit for a long time. Congrats on the progress so far, and I love a black with red interior C3, not that I'm biased or anything. I also would love to have a Harley to go along with my 79, but I have to buy my wife a classic car first.

I'm totally excited for you...that HUGE news! If someone's not excited that a C3 has just fired back to life they are on the wrong forum..haha.
Congrats on the progress and thanks for sharing. It amazes me that someone wouldn't just throw a breaker bar on the crank pulley to determine if the engine is locked up. Hope you got a deal on her if that's what the PO thought.
Definitely check the calipers. I had mine redone with the stainless steel sleeves and I-rings vs the lip seal.
Keep up up the good work and posting as you go.
