My brother bought a 82 from Vet shop where the engine was rebuilt, new paint ,new interior, in 2002. he paid 14,ooo and he will sell to me for the same. 51,000 miles on it. He hardley ever drove it....WTF!! he says there is a slow drain on the battery if let stand for 2 weeks will need a jump. Other than that it is so great running and a good looker. Is this price too much, can it be an investment for the near future....HELP

Junebug, I've been researching the 1982 pretty heavily because that is what I really want.

In short based on your brief description the price seems right. These cars will appreciate very slowly compared to early C3, caution investing large sums this is not a collector but a driver.

Don't count on it. You either buy these cars to bring them back from the dead or step up and pay the price to start enjoying right off the bat - sort of pay now or pay them later deal.

Just to give you an idea, 12 years ago I paid $9K for my original, unmolested 82 Vette. I feel I could easily sell it for the price you paid for yours. So yes, the value of late C3s can increase however there is no guarantee that will be true in the future. Cars in general are a horrible investment. I've put at least $6K into my Vette over the years. My advice is to drive it and enjoy it.

Post some pics. $14K may have purchased a nice car, or an over priced dog. Next question: Do you want the car at $14K?
