I dropped my tank to replace it last night and I found what was left of my build sheet!
I haven't touched it yet (spent the rest of the night getting the new tank back in my car and I still have to wrestle with the tank straps today ) so I don't know what to expect. My plan is to try and lightly brush the 45+ years of dirt and grime off of it. What else should I do?
Hi DW,
I would brush as much dirt off it as possible with it still in place.
This will allow you to see what information may be readable.
Use a fluffy soft makeup brush. Be as gentle as you can be.
If anything is readable I'd photograph it well.
Using a razor blade to remove it MAY work, but may also destroy the sheet depending on how well it's still glued to the tank.
My build sheet looked exactly like that. The only remaining pieces of mine was were the glue was attached to paper. I cleaned it up so I could read the paper and I cut the take apart to save it on the metal and put it in a bag. You probably arent going to use the tank again anyways?
