Wow, never saw that, did they roll it on purpose, for showmanship, they didnt seem too upset about it,

Here it is back in January. Lots of photos.

If you guys hurry, you could have a midengine Corvette on the street before Chevrolet brings out the C8.

When I saw it at Webster, it was the first time I saw it there. The Turkey Rod Run was in November so I suspect it was "found" or dug out of some storage area last fall.

One question I guess worth reviving this thread.
Anybody (Richard?) ever considered putting an LS4 in its original transverse orientation in the back of a C3.

YEP.... When driving my 73 on the Hotrod Power tour 2014- and thinking that if the motor was behind you, the interior wouldn't be soooo frickin hot!!!

The track is about 3½" different- so really no issue there.

The ONLY issue- is to fit the motor behind the stock seating location is the center of the rear wheels would have to be moved back about 7 inches.

The Impala SS weighs in around 3800lbs-and with the stock 303hp runs 14 sec 1/4 mile.

Here's some good info on the motor- swapping to a 6 speed etc-

http://www.gmls4.com/index.php/topic,115.50.html

here's a turbo build-

https://www.engineswapdepot.com/?p=2388

11 sec pass FWD with a turbo!!!

And here's a cheap build- but can get an idea of motor location behind the seat in relation to the rear wheels-

On a very antiquated low end way i have done this in my kit car world,

I owned 2 v8 valkyries a v8 kelmark and helped a buddy with a th425 terriblenado in a kit car,

These cars didnt have the suspensions or brakes to deal with 300 plus hp at your back,

With the modern stuff a mid ship c3 could happen and be pretty darn cool....

tilt the engine?
Offset the transmission from the engine so you can put the engine a bit more behind?

Edit: after reading the link, it looks like the engine would have to be flipped front to back and run in reverse rotation, or maybe there is a transmission that 'exits' forward of the engine instead of backward.

It's a Factory Five "GTM"

I'd have tough time calling it a kit car- as it is so well designed. Uses a C5 driveline/suspension /brakes and a Porsche transaxel

Thanks Richard - I take that as a great compliment.

It is a kit - but most people say it like I cheated somehow. But when you pass a new corvette or GTR on the track with something you built its kinda cool. Took about three years for me to take apart a c5 for parts and build the car. Really similar effort to a body off restoration on the c3. Its balanced almost exactly the same as a Porsche 911 - 60% rear. 311s for the back tires makes it stick. Weighs 2500lbs with me in it. 395 hp to the ground.
