Hi,
I remember this car being the subject of a couple of threads in the last few months.
I believe some photos of the rear of the car and engine showed that there were still a few engineering 'details' to be worked out.
I guess if someone bought it and worked on it everyday they'd be just finishing up at the time the new mid-engine Corvette makes it's debut!
Regards,
Alan

I used to do a lot of kit car stuff, i even owned one of the mid engineering chassis but mine had the 180 corvair gear box, true poor mans mid engine,
The car in this thread used the terriblenado th425 for rear not true mid engine, the th425 is heavy and poorly balanced for a rear engine car, in the late 70s lots of kit car people thought that toronado th425 would make the perfect kit car when used in the rear, i too was hopeful and some pretty savvy handling gurus tried to make it work, one told me a car with it in the rear is a rolling coffin,
In the 70s car craft did a story on an aztec 7 kit car with the th425 and actually dropped it after trying to run it,
I have seen a few th425 vehicals do okay in mud and one fellow used one for quarter mile fun but no one could work out handling for a safe sound street car,
When i pressed one fellow who had a background in suspension design was his kit car with the th425 an exception and did it handle well on the street,
His reply was to the effect it was okay on the street but dont push it or get on it as it, its a novelty not a race car.
I would assume a lot of this is why the poor 73 on a mid engineering chassis was never finished.

Not all vw based kits were the same some did have relocated seats even shifters and steering but they all were intended to drop on a rear engine vw chassis/pan with rear engine some simply could not be mid engine,
So when we try to go mid engine like mine was or rear mid engine like the th425 it would limit which kit bodies would work at all, the th425 sits high, normally ruining a rear deck,
For example my kelmark, with 180 corvair gear box you lost some rear seat travel but worse the water pump pulley was your arm rest, of course there was a bulk head there but you get the idea,
My dislike for hack jobs is why i pretty much stopped messing with early kit cars, many were hacks from the company.
I feel kind of bad for the 73 in this thread.

Looks like someone took a "fair" parts car and managed to reduce its value to something just above ZERO.

There seems to be a sight difference in wheelbase, but the gaps are good.

The c3 is 98 so 2.5 difference, do they make the chassis longer or c3 shorter?
Mid engineering had several chassis the best had a transverse v6 from a front wheel drive in the rear like a fiero, the worse had this th425 trans....
