Default 73 Ignition Switch Wire Routing

I'm in need of some information. I am reinstalling the steering column in my 73. I need to know the routing of the bundle of wires that go to the ignition switch.

The wires come down between the tach and speedo. Does the bundle then go between the column and the mounting plate above the column or do they go above that plate and then around to the plugs on the switch?

The mounting plate I am speaking of is the one that is attached to the big cast piece above with 4 bolts and it moves side to side and fore and aft, the two steering column bolts attach to it.

I can get the bundle between the column and the plate but when I push the column up to attach the two bolts everything gets in a bind. There probably is room to run the wire bundle above the plate and around but it will be a tight fit to get the wires to the ignition switch.

I have looked several times in the AIM but can't find a picture of the wiring to the switch.

Thanks
Mark Potter

Hi Mark,
I looked at the 73 AIM and appears to indicate the the harness and wiring for the ignition switch stays to the right and forward of the steering column and heavy bracket that supports it.
I have a photo that 'seems' to indicate that. I can't get a look at my car for a while. Sorry.
?
Regards,
Alan

Thanks for that picture, it looks like the bundle goes above the bracket and then wraps around. I've just been out there and that looks like it will work for me as well. You know I could see the bracket and column in the AIM as well as the wire bundle, just not both put together, maybe I missed the correct page, I really have trouble using that manual.

I just got my column tightened down and I still have to connect the wires.

Hi Mark,
I'm looking at UPC 12 H, Sheet 10.
It shows the harness and connector really nicely, but not enough of the column and it's mounting bracket is shown to know for certain what routing was intended for the wiring.
Hope it works for you!
Regards,
Alan
