The only thing I see wrong with this thread is if you have the keys, why not move one or the other out to work rather than using pool noodles to stop the dings?

You know some of those noodles will scratch paint, right?

The noodle was temporary. Been replaced with rubber hose.
Moving the convertible C2 outside when it rains periodically most every day here in Miami in the summer is not a good idea. I just may send "Nelson" home for his own good.

There are enough pictures since all of these third party picture sites seem to have stopped servicing us (photo bucket and tinypic). I did a search of my forum name (Turnbull Canyon Racing California) and just searching TCracingCA my C3 Blue (license plate 60N2SEC) backend with a C7 tire size comparison shows up (I am wayover due to update my profile on the latest and that car) , the white Formula car I am building is there, our PMO carbed 911 engine bay, but on an iPhone the pictures popping up do seem to be getting scarce! My all aluminum Bow tie engine used to show up, suspension goody posts, etc. used to show! I think if you search the full name, then more of the Corvettes show up! I only have posted old black and whites of the C2 race car in preparation for the public reveal one day! The Autocross car pops up in a few searches, and I only have one picture up showing both C3s together! The search that seemed to net the most pictures was like combining Turnbull Canyon TCracingCA images that shows some of my cars! It has me at Willow Springs raceway in the flared C2, our Slalom Truck, our BMW with the Burgandy/Candy Apple red C3 behind it, old pic of the 67 1275S Mini Cooper, the Autocross C2 parked side by side with the blue C3, a few more of the blue C3, my personal racetrack shots and My race track course map on one of the old t-shirts, etc etc etc etc and my latest engine build aluminum block- there it is!!!! The cars aren't junk, just driven hard nasty old non-show car Corvettes and our Porsches! Knock yourself out!
I am sure you are very proud of your past racing accomplishments. Good for you!

I worked for these two guys (Roger Sr and Roger Jr directly for 4 years, back in '92 thru '96) and I never remember either boasting . Junior was given the choice to either race or work for his father. He preferred to remain incognito. He supported me 100% in my success with what he hired me to do. I sat in Rick Mears winning Indy car, was on the pit wall watching Fittipaldi qualify at Homestead. Take any of that for what it is worth.

That's actually cool history! But you are boasting now! You should get your story into a magazine and leave the forums for lowly thought of enthusiast like me! Guys that haven't gotten lucky to spent on exotic toys the money of Corporate sponsors, but worked in our military followed by Government Contract work, routine employment like me for a paycheck that was used to buy and modify some regular guy cars!

A number of others in this thread posted up about their cars and bike prior to my post joining the thread theme!

I only posted up picture links because the other guy called me out here! And it also shows that I am far from having cars with the originality theme as per the thread! I had enough trying for originality as the thread title says, long ago- like on day one buying with day two plans to further modify!

My brother used to be the Avionics guy for Lear and Bombardier and has flown around with Roger Penske Sr. on the Private Jet Globals with him! Small world sometimes!

Faster rat i humbly apologize for my part in this in your thread

Ctracing,
Relax, i didnt call you out, you are not my least favorite member, i dont have one, you do confuse me with your posts, bashing ncrs and boasting,

i simply asked you not to high jack this thread and go start your own thread where you post pictures of your racers,

But you further highjacked this thread you didnt post pictures or links you posted long winged yet vague ways for someone to go try to hunt down pictures,
i dont have that time nor is my interest that deep.

Loke i said you confuse me, you boast and boast about an elustrious racing history, make it sound like you still race all the time but when i asked you about it you replied that you never got the license only build the cars, dont drive them, too busy raising a family,

Anyway, please dont further high jack this thread,
its simple to start another thread of your own or go private if you have the need to reply to me,

Out of respect to faster rat and other members i will not reply to you again in this thread.

I am a fellow forum member who has been in and continues headed in a non originality theme and direction! I have held an IMSA license, but never bragged about any illusions pro Race career of any type! A Street/Canyon Racer who has been on tracks too and Club competition stuff like SCCA Solo and PCA, and Vintage! The cars owned can get out of their own way!

The mods smartly closed the NCRS thread for peace! I wasn't the one that brought that over here! My comments trailed yours about me in this thread! Yes we can be done!

As soon as I hear someone starting their threads boasting about themselves and their accomplishments, and name dropping with photos, I stop reading. Its one thing to express your opinion on any subject on a thread, even though some people seem to think only positive responses are appropriate, but when someone feels it necessary to "qualify" their position by providing either inflated or real history of oneself, I think it turns most people off. I am sure there is a clinical name for this syndrome.

This thread was about maintaining originality, or giving in to practical changes. If someone want to start a thread on their vast racing career, then they should do that....or maybe write a book. Anyways, just trying to add my two cents to why recent threads have went astray.

As for originality, I love it. I also like people maintaining and driving their cars. I think its really cool maintaining the original designed in beauty and design that GM built into the car. And then go out and drive it. Icing on the cake.

So is Faster Rat a CF name or a Swamp Rat name?

I never said I raced anything. My dad, rest his soul, stopped working early in life. When I asked him why, his answer was "They're building faster rats."

The large aftermarket for reproduction corvette parts already answered this question. If you want a nice "original looking" old corvette at a reasonable cost, you buy repro parts. Good used and NOS parts are getting harder to find and more expensive everyday. Corvette looks cannot really be improved upon, as is evidenced on this very forum. People anguish over their car not looking like the year they really want. Restmod chassis are the wave of the future, not flairs and hood scoops. I'm restoring a C1 chassis right now, if I had the extra money it takes to put a modern chassis in I would do it without hesitation. Judging by the value trends, looks as though a modern chassis more than pays for itself at the time of resale.

Interesting thread here. I took ownership of a mostly 1970 Coupe in Oct 16', joined the forum to learn "how to". It's my first attempt at working on a car bumper to bumper let alone a complete body off redo. So many advances in technology to make the car of 47 years better & safer in my opinion and still retain the incredible lines of the car is a no brainer.
This thread actually solidified my direction on the project, "make it mine".

I find faster rats car super stunning, and can be jealous of it without that contradicting for me what i have said many times i wish how the factory made it was what i wanted,
but like many others on this forum i have to mod this change that,
Some guys want more hp some better handling, some both,
Others update things or some of us scoop and flare our cars, because that look is best to us,
Dropping an old vette body on a new state of the art chassis is the zenith of the modded corvette, im waiting to see the number of them get up like the number of ac cobra replicas,
I do not however like the altered bodies like a c1 with a c4 windshield, too cartoonish for me,
Bottom line, get or make what you want,
The people i feel badly for are the ones who anguish over something and dont feel they are allowed to fix it,
Lifes too short to settle.
