vacuum headlight doors

vacuum headlight doors
My 1974 headlight doors open quickly and close quickly like they should, except when closed they stick up about 3/4". I can push them down, but they stick back up against what feels like is either spring pressure or air pressure. Is there an adjustment? What is the fix for this?

It sounds like you're pushing against the rubber plenum seal inside the actuator.
What's odd is that they're both doing the same thing.
Normally I suggest that the 'clevis' that's on the end of the rod that comes out of the actuator needs to be adjusted so the full movement of the plenum is enough to completely close the doors.
There is an 'adjustment' for the closed position of the door but it's unusual but again… strange that it's both of them.
Is this a new problem?
Have you done any work on the headlight system recently?

I really appreciate your quick response. I found the problem. Bubba installed fog lights behind the grill and the headlight doors were hitting them. I removed them and everything is good.
