Default Interior panel repair.

The halo panel or headliner piece above the seats has bellyed in after years of the screws being over tightened. The screw hole is fine. Is there any way to straighten the panel. It is just along the edge were the screw goes in. Where it meats the t piece. I hate to get new ones as these are perfect except for the belly. I tried heating it but don't want to get it to hot as I don't want to melt the vinyl.

You could disassemble them and tap them flat from the other side. Or, you could insert a slightly larger screw to grab onto the trim and then yank it outward to bring the surface back flat (or even a bit 'proud', so you could then tap it down flat. I don't think the screws need to be tightened much to hold the assembly together. Maybe back off the loading on the screws next time?

I got some paint sticks and glued them to the underside to keep them straight. Looks good now.
