Default Console tab repair kit warning

I redyed my console, but as many other C3 owners experience, the tabs were badly broken or completely missing. Since the console was generally in good condition, I decided to save a few $$$$

The directions in the kit are OK, but the biggest issue I have is that I had to modify the front metal repair brackets because I have the fiber optics bezel on my 68 and the brackets would not accommodate the attachment studs and retaining nut.

Also there are 4 stainless screws and 4 black screws? Where do these go since the metal plates are "hot glued" in place??

I called and advised that there was a fitment issue and that it would be easily fixed by manufacturing by adding additional holes. They thanked me for my feedback but said they will likely just make note of the issue on the part description.

Anyone else had this problem??

I am assuming these are trim plate mounting screws. Save the stainless for a rainy day. Black is what you want.

OK, Thanks Mike. Figured but not sure why there were 8, they were labeled forward shift console kit.

Did the consoles with the wood trim use stainless or chrome screws (not sure they would look good in black)?

Black screw looks good.
You can see I had to drill an extra hole to accommodate the plastic stud. Hope the high heat glue holds, followed the directions to a tee.

Of course during the fitting of the console plate the material tore in the upper corner! S#/&!
