:I'am restoring a 1973 vette,I have replaced all wiring from dash forward I have juice to the starter switch, but car will not start went I turn the key nothing. I have no dash lights but I have courtesy lights. seens I have no power to neutral switch
not sure what you mean by starter switch, there is an ignition switch and a starter solenoid.
Do you have 12+ volts at the starter solenoid large terminal?
Do you have the two smaller wires on the solenoid corectly connected and have not reversed their positions?
when the key is turned to start do you get 12 volts at the smaller wire on the S post of the solenoid?

I do not have power at the s post. does the steering column have to be grounded? what should look for?
Hi j,
On 4-speed cars the clutch pedal must be depressed in order for the engine to start.
The clutch pedal arm operates a rod that controls the clutch safety switch.
Have you checked that it's in place, connected, and the clutch arm is cycling it?

Alan

The Yellow wire goes to the solenoid terminal closest to the fender.
The Purple wire connects to the small terminal closest to the block.
The purple has 12 volts only with the key in Start.
The Black is a ground and connects to a bell housing bolt.

Yes!
Find to two wires that were connected to the + terminal on the original coil and tape them up so they don't touch anything. You don't need them any more.
Quick fix:
Your HEI distributor needs a new wire to be run from the FUSE box IGN terminal to the distributor.
Long term fix is to separate the fuse box and replace the resistor wire.
