What to look for apart from no heater or radio ?

Trying to arrange to see it and it's only 35 miles from me but it's not seen the light of day for a long time.

Part of a Corvette collection.

Hi Stuart,
LS-6 cars originally had a heater/defroster and could have the optional radio.
I guess start with the obvious…. a CPW broadcast code for a 4-speed car or a CPX broadcast code for an automatic car.
Then look for aluminum heads and the stamps on the transmission.
Regards,
Alan

I dont think you could get the M40 if the ZR2 was ordered. I believe that the CPX code was only available with the LS6. But Im always open to discussion and learning!

Would sure be nice to see things like title history, tank sticker, other docs that verify it has always been a ZR2.

We want to see Pics!!

Thanks

I couldn't afford him

I'll see what he's prepared to let me photo / record but reports are that it's all original and a former race car. AND he's thinking about reducing his collection given his 'advanced years'

Hi,
I need to clarify because I was lumping LS-6 and ZR-2 cars together.

Here's what I believe is accurate:

First, LS-6 cars:
All cars had a heater/defroster system.
Since the radio was an option there was no 'radio delete'. An LS-6 car could be ordered with a radio.

Next, ZR-2 cars:
All cars had a heater/defroster system.
The radio option couldn't be selected when ordering a ZR-2 car.

I believe the ZR-2 package included: LS-6, M-22 or M-40, F-41, J50/J56, and VO1. Not available on the car were: A31, C50, C60, N40, PO2, UA6, U69, U69/U79.

I'm sorry if I misled someone!
Regards,
Alan

So has every other seller who has claimed to have one.......

Just check through everything carefully. If the car has the original engine it would be worth it to have it inspected by CCAS to see if its the real deal. There service is not inexpensive but when it come to a car like this it could save you WAY more the you could lose if the car is NOT real or has a restamped engine.

Since you mentioned it was a former race car its hard to believe it has the original motor. Not impossible, but unusual.

If it has some good race history that jumps the price up even more and I'm sure the seller knows this.

Good luck and I hope its a real ZR2

Also, check to see what radiator it has.
I am not that knowledgable on much of anything beyond 69 but if you notice the two engine compartment pics above you will notice the LS6 has a fan shroud and standard looking big block radiator. The ZR2 has the same type radiator as an L88 with no fan shroud.

Now, since it was a race car anything could have happened like a aftermarket radiator, so even if it doesn't have the proper radiator, its doesn't rule anything out, but if it does have the proper radiator, well, then all the better. I would be more worried if it had a LS6 radiator with the shroud.
