Default Battery box resto

I would like to clean up my battery compartment here are some pictures . Some questions any easy fix on half dollar size hole and what would a ncrs resto look like minus the battery. I need to paint the hold down metal brace and bolt any rattle can manufacture that makes a correct black for this job . Does bolt also get black paint or probably plateded .

looks like acid fumes have got to it a bit .Might need to neutralize the acid before you try and paint in there .

The hole your referring to , is that the one in the centre ? if it is ,then its supposed to be there .There should also be a plastic drain neck in that hole

as for ncrs type restore , other guys on here can help with that

Make a paste of baking soda and water and apply to the fluffy corrosion residue. Let it sit a while and then brush off with a stiff brush. Rinse and repeat. The drain holes make it easier to flow water through. Just watch your battery cables if they're still routed through their holes.
I used some satin black spray paint to my compartment once it was cleaned up, but I'm not seeking any NCRS points.
Also needed a replacement hold-down hardware kit, to replace the 2x4's the P.O. had used to "secure" the battery within the walls.

Hi,
'Some' battery compartments have been seen with a little semi-flat black around their upper surfaces…typically those areas that can be seen with the battery in place.

The bolt used for the hold down was typically zinc or manganese phosphate plated.
The plate that holds the battery in place was phosphate plated or semi-flat black.

Regards,
Alan
