Found my wobble.....
Went to a car show Saturday that was only 5 miles or so from the house....I noticed a wobble when slowing for red lights and stop signs and somewhat of a vibration as well....Trailing arms were just rebuilt so I thought something might have came loose or maybe a tire going flat....I pulled over to check and everything looked fine so we continued on to the show.....I put it back up on jackstands Sunday and didn't see anything so I pulled the tires off.....Here is what I found.
We were lucky to even make it back without having a blowout....Yes the tires are really old but up till now they looked fine and had plenty of tread left.....Just a reminder to those running older tires.

Internal belt separation. Time to replace those tires. How old are they?

ive heard old tires can blow out while just sitting on your car. When they do, the damage the car. You may want to remove all 4 and deflate them a bit till you get new tires .

That would be about TWICE the useful life for an average tire. This really is an issue for car buffs who drive their car sparingly. Tires NEED to be exercised to keep them in good stead.
It would be interesting to know if lowering the tire pressure while in storage (10-15 psi?) might help tires extend their useful life. Put the car away in the fall and drop pressure until you pull it out again in spring. Anyone have any thoughts about that?
I've also heard that putting 100% nitrogen in the tires may be better for them by keeping the oxygen away. Air is normally 80% nitrogen, anyway. It's a decent "theory", but does it have any validity?

Best deal I have found on a set of BFG 225/70R15's is from Jegs at $551.96 free shipping and no tax. If anyone runs across a better deal please clue me in.....It might be awhile before I purchase a set anyway.

BFGoodrich is running a $50 rebate on a set of (4) tires till the 12th of this month from participating dealers.....Jegs still has the best price of $551.96 OTD free shipping no tax (unless they are shipped to OH) Just over 500 hundred after rebate.
I just bought a set....We have some fall driving to do.
