I want to take out the factory clutch fan .and put in a fan that would be run from the wires from the smaller auxillary fan.are thes wires heavy enough to do the job..The sending unit has all ready been changed .to 180 degree.

I have found the wires that bring power to the fan but I don't know where the relay is.yet.

Yep. That fan is wired directly to the sending unit. There is a fuse for it in the fuse box.

Both my 81s had the axillary electric fans but i just went right to rewire,
I had on one that adjustable hayden style switch feeding a relay then on the second one i just had a cockpit switch feeding a relay,
Even that little stock electric fan is a pretty good load on a temp switch, i guess gm knows best,

Yes it is. It uses a 30 amp fuse.

Some large electric fans spike pretty high on start up then settle down while running,
My issue is even with correct gauge wire i wouldnt like all the power going through the little temp switch, i would have better peace of mind using a relay
