Default 1983 assembly assist manual for the all new corvette

Hi,
I have an assembly assist manual for the all new corvette from 1983. As you know, 1983 would have been the 30th anniversary of the Corvette. However, this year -1983 – all of the models were crushed, except one, and it is in their museum. The manual is 104 pages long. It is signed inside by the plant manager at the time, Joe Dell’Ario and also by the Director of Quality Control, Jack Taylor.

My uncle was a long time engineer for them – and he gave it to me back in the 80s. He said hang on to it. --- And I have. For all I know it may be the only one in existence. After all, there is only one 1983 corvette in existence. Please let me know who I should contact, as a go to, to find out how rare and the price of such an item.

Thank you,

I think you should contact the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. They have the car and I'm sure they would like to have that document. Maybe they can get the assembly plant to work a deal for a NEW Corvette.

(Sounds like a good trade to me. )

Wow.. I saw this post and about flipped.. lol

I have the 1983 flow manual from the BG plant... I guess it's a flow manual, I'm really not sure what you would call it. The call out's in this specifies the vendors that produced the parts and showed the flow of the car as it moved through the plant. It's pretty neat looking though and I've never seen anything like it... could you publish a few pics from inside the manual.. I've never published the entire document because to this date I've never seen anything that resembled it and it is too large to host on my site.

You can view the first four pages at this link though.. http://repairs.willcoxcorvette.com/w...st-8-pages.pdf

The book is too large for me to put up in it's entirety, but it's loose leaf in a binder.

I also have the C4 and the C5 windshield wiper motor testing equipment used on the line as well as a few other oddities from the C4 and C5 production. One item is the original testing roof panel for the C5 cars.

That is very cool. If you look closely you will see that the wheels pictured on the car are definitely the 1983 wheels. I am interested to see how this turns out.

I wish I had the free space to publish the entire manual...

What's funny is that there are two different wheels shown in the manual. One that looks like the 1982 wheels and then the salad shooters used on the 84 production.

I'd never turn loose of the original manual, but if I can find a host I'd publish it from start to finish.... time is the other factor.

Haug: Interested on what your uncle's name is. I also worked there then. I have the same manual somewhere in storage. There were many published as the vehicle assy process was being developed and passed out to people at the plant. I see some friends of mine names are there. Tom Lohman, Tom Dilworth and Tony Wall. Process engineers. Please let me know.

You should post a similar thread in the C4 forum.

I've seen TWO 1983 Corvettes go through Barrett-Jackson.
1. The magneto-rheological test MULE.
2. The other was a test mule as well.

NEITHER was titled, nor were they 84's

Non production cars.

Not sure what those vehicles are that you refer too but as you know none were actually 1983 Corvettes built in BG Kentucky. Pilot, validation etc.
