Default Test fitting new front bumper!!

Had to go ahead and buy a new front bumper to test fit and adjust glass. Just walked out to shop and put a few bolts thru, no adjustment yet. This one looks pretty close. I believe I can work with it! Sadly when I'm done this weekend it will go back in the box for about 2 more years. My goal before it gets cold is to paint the car in dealer Not scratched. That's oil from manuf.

Looks like it fits well as is. Where did you buy it? I'll be in the market for a new one too.

Default Alans71?

i figure you'll see this and ask a favor. Can you add pics of how this should fit? I can see I'll have to build glass. The front end was wrecked. Thanks!!!

I agree..the fit looks good for right out of the box!

You are so close to perfection...you might as well call it perfectly installed....I would not worry about it because any final slight adjustments can be done when finally installing it..

Is this a bumper from Paragon???

The area of the bumper where it is attaches to the right fender is out slightly...but you can not mess with that due to how the inner bracket was welded to the inside of the bumper itself may be out slightly and not fully seated like the left side.

TRUST ME..I have had bumpers that were WAY worse than that..and I mean so bad you can put a banana between the bumper and fender and it would hold it without breaking the skin on the banana.

Awesome!! I'm very happy with the test fit. Front end was hit and during the resto I had to put it back as close as possible without a new bumper. I see some places for glass adjustment as well as the horse collar / nose brace. Literally pulled it from box walked out to shop and bolted in on. One thing I noticed when test fitting the rears was the welded on bolt brackets didn't sit flush to my glass. Of course I adjusted it and it's perfect. Before pics
I appreciate all your help!!

Is this a secret, where this front bumper was purchased from?! I would like to know, too if possible...

Hi C69,
I think the fit of the front bumper really looks quite good.
I'll post some photos as you asked.
The photos show the re-plated front bumper on the body with no 'massaging' of the body in the bumper area.

The rear bumpers don't appear to fit quite as well as the front.
What are those bumpers and was body work done back there?
Regards,
Alan

Rear bumpers, again no shims used.

With enough time and patience, this can be achieved... cutting the rear bumpers is not for the faint of heart though...

That was a test fit on the rears before I massaged the glass. They fit quite well now. Thanks for the pics! Can I ask for one more straight on so I can see how highl the center of the bumper sits compared to the glass behind it. And straight down at the center so I can see how far away the bumper is from the glass. Thanks!!

Hi C69,
Perhaps these show what you're looking for?
Regards,
Alan

When looking at only the bumper it looks 'tipped', but when you back-up and look at the entire car it appears to be level with the car.

CAMS69,

Glad to see that you got the rear bumpers to fit....even though the photo you posted were prior to that and do not show it...I know they are RIGHT!

One thing I have gotten in the habit of when I get new bumper is to look at the metal brackets that are welded to the inside of the bumper so it can be bolted to the car. IF the metal brackets are not set all the way to the inside flush again the metal and they welded them off a bit...that can screw up how the bumper will look when installed due to improper backspacing....so-to-speak.
