I was in the same leaky boat when I started. I put all that time and money into it hoping that when it was done it would be worth it.
It was.
The view over those front fenders will make you forget all of the work it took to get you there.
I drive mine mainly on the weekend, when the weather is nice. If I know there is not a chance of rain at all, I will leave it out and only drive it all weekend long where ever I go. It used to be my daily untill I decided to start replacing everything.
I live in Iowa so I have two corvette seasons. Driving season and upgrade season. LS1/Richmond 6 cruises down the road pretty well so I have driven it to south dakota three times and a couple legs of power tour. During driving season I take "LARRY" out almost every day. If I don't have anywhere to go I just head out on county roads drive to random places enjoying the experience.
Probably a whole 50 miles on it this year. Between being busy with other things and the crappy weather we've had in Western New York this summer, it's been in the garage.
I only drive mine maybe once a month in the summer. 50 miles from storage to home, and then a couple of car shows with my dad, and then back to storage. Mrs Backstop doesn't really care to ride in it much or take it to shows.
The plan going forward is to make it my autocross/trackday car. That will take the risk of messing up my daily away, and a souped-up Vette shows just as well at Dad's events as a stock one.
I have to share time between my 75 Ray and my 70 Dart 340. I will have roughly 1500 additional miles on each car when I put them up for the winter. This Sunday I was sitting at a light in my Vette and a 14 or so Mustang vert pulled up beside me and the gentleman about my age said "sounds real healthy" All I could do is grin.
I just installed a crate ZZ502 in my 72. The instructions said to break it in for 500 miles. With the amount I drive the car that should be somewhere in 2020.
I’ve been putting about 1,000-1,500 miles a year on my ‘72. Although I just fixed the heater to extend my driving season a bit in New York, it’s just not as much fun with the top down. She also leaks like a screen door in a submarine, so any rain in the forecast keeps her in the garage.
The biggest thing that holds me back from driving more is the exhaust smell. I have no problem going on weekend drives or to a friend’s house, but I can’t really show up at work or go anywhere important smelling like that. I know she’s running rich and I’m going to adjust the idle mixture, jets, and timing in the spring.
Let's see, I've had it for a month, so I drive it to the shop for some work. I drive it to the stereo store for installation of some tunes, I drove it once to a car show, (below), but mainly it looks like the picture below in my garage.
The great thing about a 78 SA with 100k on the odometer is that you can drive it 2500 to 3500 miles per summer. I have a set of rules that mandate a minimum miles per outing. Coffee 60, lunch 100, dinner 125, wine country 250, leaf pecking in the fall 300.
I like your rules, will have to implement them myself.
Mine has over 300K on it, was my year round daily driver when I got it new. These days it only gets out a few times during the summer. My biggest issue now is we moved in May and the car is wedged into the garage with only a couple of inches side clearance and stuff behind it that needs to be moved if I want to take it out for a run. Makes it seem like too much effort. Once the garage cleanup reaches the top of the to-do list and the car has its proper space a quick drive will be much easier.
I used to drive it every day, but after it broke down in a parking lot I am fearful of getting stranded in it. After some work maybe (I have many leaks), but then it's going into storage for winter soon anyways...
Zero times since forever. Never drove a C3 or any Vette. But someday, oh yea. Someday...

Saving them...big mistake guys. Go rack up the miles.
Jee z, I feel sorry about Vibguy and his shituation.....but Cuisi....man you are a long time member here, hate to hear of your health problems, get better man,
I manage to drive maybe 6 miles a week, sometimes a month...I live just a mile off the main shopping drag, so depending on my route outta the burb, I can get to car parts, bank, food, FAST food, Home Despot or even a shopping mall, not that I ever go there anymore since Radio Shack went outta business....OH, Walmart is down the road about 3 miles, but not been there in months now.....poor hotrod vette needs to be taken out on the freeway for a good blow out.....not been there for some 10 months now..... BUT every time it does go out, I get into conversations, as this is CAR heaven, can't drive down the street without seeing another non-stock car/truck.....
The '72 just enough to keep the battery charged. The stoker LT-1 with cherry bombs as much as I can but living in a small village, it can be awkward trying to sneak out for an early weekend trip. I feel like I have some catching up to do now as while I had new C4 & C5's the C3 was always the dream car so I put as many miles on as I can. Planning a 1500 mile trip to Portugal next year which will be around 3 weeks and 4 to 5 k miles in total if it works out. I have two other C3 owning mates that are trying to collect enough brownie points to join me and that would be fantastic if they can, if not I'll be going solo
Unlikely to be many more driving days left this year now
