Has it ever worked? Do your courtesy lights come on when the driverside door opens?
For me the buzzer worked for a good long time, and then suddenly stopped and it was the switch in the door. I mention the courtesy lights because they are on the same switch, but a different terminal. For me my courtesy lights were always solid...
I took off the driverside kick panel, inspected the switch and looked to see if the pins had totally eaten through the plastic backing of the switch. I wanted to see if they could still touch the metal backing of the switch when the door is open.
In my case the plastic backing of the switch was deteriorating in the slot the key buzzer was hooked to and I had luck using a tiny bit of epoxy to add some strength back to the plastic backing of the switch to make sure the pins didn't jostle around as the car bumps, shakes etc.
Hi b,
For the key buzzer to operate, (the buzzer is part of the horn relay on the drivers side apron in the engine compartment), the switch in the steering column and the one that is part of the courtesy lamp switch on the driver's side hinge pillar must be functioning.
The buzzer sounds when ever the driver's door is opened with the key in the ignition switch...even if the engine isn't running.
Regards,
Alan
I believe the pink wire with the black tracer is the buzzer connection.
Mine has never worked and am quite happy with that. My courtesy lights do work, so I guess for curiosity sake I'll check the connections. Thanks for the detailed info Alan71 you are an vettepedia of sorts in seems!
