Placed around in the garage, they'll likely find it, eat it, and never make it into the car. If they do make it to the car, it'll likely not be in the cabin so smell would be a non-issue anyway. Good luck.
The weather has been pissing around here, has not been the typical -40 degree winter. Its been very mild, and my 4 mouse traps with peanut butter have been very busy. 8 mice caught to date. I do have bounce dryer sheets in both my cars, so far so good.
This is what I have been using in the cars and all of my patio furnishing in storage and have had no problems. It is Irish Spring soap shavings and a sheet of Bounce with a tie wrap.
I must be doing something wrong in my bucket system. I get mice in the traps, but nothing in the bucket. I think I have caught 4-5 mice in the traps. I need to reset tomorrow.
I'm new to this mouse thing. Never had the problem here in Florida.
I recently bought a friends 1971 and had it shipped down from upstate NY. I was suprised at how little rust I found on it, and nothing serious. He kept it in a heated garage all winter and never drove it in the snow.
I was going thru it and pulled some brown fluff out of one of the bottom holes in the frame. I thought WTF is this, insulation? Then I realized it was a mouse nest. The mouse must have bailed before they put the car on the truck because he was nowhere around. I got the rest of his home cleaned out between my magic fingers, compressor and air gun, and shop vac.
I called my buddy and asked him how much he had been charging the mouse for rent in case he showed up and wanted to move back in. He was shocked and said they had a cat and he guessed the cat they had was worthless.
Fortunately for me, no damage, but I can see how those little boogers can be destructive.

I bought the needed supplies today. I'm going to give it a try.
