I have owned Corvettes since I was 21 and I am now 63 and retired I came across some photos of the first C3 Corvette and C2 that I owned. I am sure there are a lot of other forum members that have also owned Corvettes most of their lives. I purchased a 1970 LT-1 in 1974 in Jackson Hole Wyoming so at the time it was just a used car. It was white with black leather interior and I had it painted candy apple red with gold pearl that’s what you did in the 70’s customize them. I purchased my next car a C2 1963 split window Daytona blue coupe with dark blue interior 4sp 300hp in Denver, CO in 1976. I took my 70 to Denver to cruise I think 16th street and I stopped off at Colorado Classic Cars on Broadway and fell in love with the 63. I traded the 70 for the 63. C2 were known as mid years then and in 1976 they were not even accepted into NCSRS. Enjoy the photos.
Hi 69,
Nice photos and memories!
Cars were just cars in the late sixties and early seventies.
If your tastes weren't too exotic, and you were working, a fellow could have just about what ever he wanted.
Things were about to change though…I guess it's better that we didn't know how much!
Regards,
Alan
I'm 55 and bought my first Corvette in 1978 at 15- a 68 small block vert- that I wrecked a few months later-
Then bought my 71 big block 4 speed vert in 1980-that I still have today. It had been resprayed red with the addition of flares and a L88 hood plus a 4 point rollbar.
****Paid $3100 for the 68 and $5150 for the 71*************
