Flip side of the 'don't be afraid to ask for help' question.
Don't be weird, stubborn, too proud or embarrassed to ACCEPT help.
Refusing usually hurts someone's feelings.

One panel, or component at a time always got me through.

(Good Idea)

My problem with PTSD is different, though.....when I am feeling better I need to accomplish as much as possible.

Both of our methods fit our particular circumstances

This is me to a bad extreme,
When im down im down forget about it when im up and feeling okay & demons at bay at the risk of sounding pompous i kick ***,
I do so much research and parts gathering and planning when im down when i do work on it i get tons done super fast,
Then from overdoing it im back down...

I'm not like that, I never kick ***, I never accomplish a lot at once, I'm just pretty steady about 8 or 10 hours a week and I eventually get it done.

If you hit a dead end on something, do not feel bad taking a day or two to think about it and get back to it. Let frozen bolts soak for days, some of them have been on these cars for 40 years or longer. Try the simple fix first, but remember to fix it right the first time so you don't have to go back to it. Do not buy parts on impulse, research before buying will save you money. If modding a car, this will really save you money. I converted my headlights to electric for less than 200.00, just installed hydro boost brake system for 125.00. Deals on parts are out there! Don't feel bad if you go in for a repair and find three more things are broken. Repair what you can and plan ahead and sooner than you think, everything is done.
Also, if running basically open sidepipes on a C3, get your wife a set of good ear protection she can wear.

We have a lot of good solutions so far. Please review your reply to see if you can make a point in approx. 20 words. Many Members have several perfect points in their reply.......The details are great but we want a simple to read thread.......For example:

Here is the reply condensed below:

1.If you hit a dead end on something, do not feel bad taking a day or two to think about it and get back to it.

2. Try the simple fix first, but remember to fix it right the first time so you don't have to go back to it.

3. Do not buy parts on impulse, research before buying will save you money.

4. Don't feel bad if you go in for a repair and find three more things are broken. Repair what you can and plan ahead and sooner than you think, everything is done.

5. Get your wife a set of good ear protection she can wear if you run loud exhaust.

This will make it much easier to organize a Sticky from everyone's input.

A while back I was told by a modarator a sticky can and will get replies just like any other thread,

Your idea is a good one but this thread is already a bit askew, with longer replies than you desire perhaps call it your beta version and hit up a modarator to make a new one for the sticky with your rule of 20 words or less,

Ill have to miss out, i cant even say "hello" in less than 20 words.

"Fight the car. Don't let it beat you!" Pay for tools and repair manuals - not labour charges. Know your limitations.

BUT....but.....BATS! Make Cliff's Notes of your posts.......you can post a paragraph....just break it down into approx. 20 word sentences (Plus or Minus 10 words). There....just so you can say Hellllllllllllllllllllllllllo.

Experienced that this summer. Guy built or had built a beautiful car. He wouldn't listen to or wouldn't ask advice of a super knowledgeable guy I know. Left a bad taste in his mouth and left him with a negative impression of that guys car.
