Hum, judge a guy and worse his beautifully built car just because he didnt want to ask or listen to to a certain knowledgeable guy, your tech friend sounds rather ego driven,

We dont have to buddy up to everyone,

Judging the guy is one thing judging a nice car because the guy bruised his ego is lame,

I know really sweet cars owned by dbags and really cool guys with less than sweet cars, and vice versa but i dont judge cars by their owners or builders,

I had a buddy the other day comment to me about a knowledgeable tech with dbag manners,

He says to me, and i paraphrase,

"That guy might be the best car painter in the world, but i would take second best before dealing with his type"

I just see it as difference in point of view and perspective....

Guys, I've had to edit or remove a few posts in this thread, as it seems to give some people the opportunity to sound off on some of their personal issues with other members and its gone too far.

The thread seems like a fun exchange of ideas, but in the interest of leaving it open, lets leave the personal issues out of it, including calling people names like d-bags, arrogant, etc, even if they are unnamed.

Regarding a Sticky, we have actually tried to thin the Sticky herd a bit in recent months. I think this thread is better served in the General Discussion area.

Thanks for letting it survive!

MOD......could you rename the thread title so members will know what the thread is about? (How about).........

Get the parts while you have the money. If something comes up that money is needed the car money will be the first to go. Nothing like a project with no money.

I would add.... do your research BEFORE you order parts.
Nothing like tearing something apart, ready to work.... then find out you need something extra (that you didn`t order), to make it all fit back together!

The hardest thing about doing anything when the chips are down is simply starting.

It has been my experience that if I can manage to get off my butt and start working on a project, I remember why I enjoy doing it and it becomes significantly easier to continue.

The other bit I would like to add is that for the vast majority of people in the world "can't" should be removed from their vocabulary. It is super easy to give up on something because they feel overwhelmed or think that a task is impossible. These cars are not rocket science. Sure, some tasks are better left to the pro's but I would be willing to bet that just about anyone here can turn a wrench.

Start with small, attainable goals

Do research on your project before attempting it. There is a lot of expert advice here if you can filter it through the B.S.

Most importantly, do not be afraid to try. This is how we learn and really there are very few things on these cars that you can screw up beyond repair.

family and friends VS the project

Stick with the project, family and friends need to sort out their own problems, unfortunately they rarely do and as we all know, "misery loves company".

Just get it done, you'll be dead a lot longer than alive. If that doesn't get you moving nothing will. Laziness is the primary problem completing projects. It's really easy with new found enthusiasm to tear into something, it's much harder when projects turn into the inevitable grind. This is what separates the weak from the strong. It's all a matter of will, personal integrity and fortitude. Yes, your manhood is on the line along with the very real possibility of a wasted life. The unfinished old car project is simply an indicator of deep seated character flaws.

Shame therapy, we need a lot more of it these days.

Teamwork! Bats...it's in the hands of the Moderator and God now.
Go for it and see which one has a meeting with you first!

I couldn’t care less how many words you use.

You won’t hear from me again unless people start throwing rocks.

Anyone who has talked to me or had private corinspondense knows short winded im not,
so that 20 words thing, i had to poke at myself,

As the thread topic goes,

Geez carjunkie perhaps i misunderstood you big time but to me the most important thing in life is family,
Way more important than any car project,
In my world a real man places his family and their needs first....

Limit lengthy downtime as much as possible (or plan it for winter). Missing days or months of beautiful driving weather due to stalled repairs sucks.
