Default 73 Tachometer Help

Tach seems accurate at low rpm' s but only goes up to between 2000 and2500 rpm.
Where should I start?
Thanks

Look at the distributor gear, then then cable, then tach itself.

You can disconnect the cable at the distributor and use a power drill to spin the cable and watch the tach. (Not sure what the RPM range is on a power drill?)

The tach cable can only be removed from the tach side, which means getting under the dash and unclipping the cable on the rear of the tach.
