Stupid interior color question.

Stupid interior color question.
Off hand, would anyone know what the most popular color was for the pre-1977 Corvettes? I see a lot of black and a surprisingly lot of tan as well, but wondering.

If by "pre-1977 Corvettes" you mean C3 cars, I would agree. Early Corvettes ('53-60) had a lot of white interiors, but after about 1960, preference went to black.

I have a neutral interior. Off white with green dash and pull handles. Looks kind of stupid. Does that count as a stupid answer? Really though I think med saddle became the most common color post chrome bumper era.

Black is probably the most common interior color, from the 60's, to the mid 70's. This is probably partly due to the fact that it was available with every exterior color, while other interior trims, were limited to what exterior color they could be paired with.
I think the only 2 years where any interior production numbers are known, are 1960 where red was the most popular interior, and 72, where black was number one. In round numbers, 72 breaks down as 9,100 black vinyl, 4,500 black leather, 1,500 red vinyl, 2,600 dark blue vinyl, 5,100 dark saddle vinyl and 4,100 dark saddle leather.
In the mid 70's, saddle and two-tone white interiors, became quite popular. The tans and saddles remained popular in the late 70's and early 80's, while the popularity of the oysters and light grays, really started to grow.
White was never offered as an interior color, in any 53-62 Corvette. Beige was available with certain exterior colors in 56-57, but generally red was the most common interior for 53-62's. 58's could be had with a charcoal interior, but 59 was the first year that black became available. White was not available, until 1964.

You are correct. After reading your post, the "haze" cleared. I was thinking about WHITE exterior with RED interior being a favorite combo in the 50's and early 60's. But white interior is what the synapses generated....
